Wren Woollen Spun is our lofty, woolly version of Wren—a 100% non-superwash Corriedale wool that’s an absolute joy to knit. With 450 yards per skein, it might look like a traditional fingering weight on paper, but thanks to its woollen-spun construction, it blooms beautifully and knits up more like a sport weight.
Unlike a smoother, denser worsted-spun yarn, woollen-spun fibers trap tiny pockets of air, creating fabric that’s warm, light, and full of life. The result is a yarn with wonderful loft, a soft hand, and about 30% more yardage per 100 grams than a typical worsted-spun fingering yarn.
And truly, knitting with Wren Woollen Spun is a dream. The gentle tonal dyeing adds depth and movement, making even simple stockinette interesting. The woolly character of Corriedale shines through in the finished fabric, blooming beautifully after blocking and creating sweaters, shawls, and accessories that feel cozy without being heavy. It's the kind of yarn that keeps you sneaking in “just one more row.”

Purling Pigeon is our in-house hand-dyed yarn line, created by owner and artist Jasmine Clayton. We dye it, we knit with it, and we’re a little picky about what makes a good skein—so we stick to really beautiful bases and high-quality dyes that feel great to work with and hold up in real projects.
We work hard to keep our dye lots consistent and put a lot of care into every batch. That said, hand-dyed yarn can be a little unpredictable, and you might notice slight shifts in color from one batch to the next. It’s just part of the process—and part of what makes each skein feel special.
